On one page of my 2004 notebook there's the end of an essay on television, then a letter-writing exercise. Both are very serious.

Handwritten notebook page with the end of an essay on television and a letter inviting a friend to a brother's wedding.
A page from my notebook, March 2004. My address, my name and my teacher's initials are blocked out.

The essay ends with a warning:

"Main Thing:- Actually, we should not see T.V. too much. From this we became blind, So, that we should select only the good Programmes like Quiz."

Before that, I was quite impressed by it: "From Television we can see far away's fair in sitting place only."

Twenty years on, I don't think I was wrong about the television.

Then the letter. The exercise was to invite a friend to a brother's wedding. I dated it 1 March 2004 and wrote:

"My brother's Marriage is on 2nd March."

So my friend got one day's notice. And then, very politely, an order:

"I think that you attend the function without missing."

I signed off with "Your Lovingly friend".
